Assignment 4: Film and Poster AD
TASK: Create a short film ( 30 secs - 2 mins.) and an Ad (digital 8x10") for your film.
Pick ONE of the following short films to create individually or in a group of 2-3:
1. NDReport or PROMO – Create video that promotes upcoming events happening at our school. Such as: Current events, sports, fundraiser, clubs, etc… Also Include: interviews with teachers and Students.
2. Parody – Create a video that imitates, mocks, comments or trivializes an original work. You may parody the style, form or content of the original. If possible, bring in the original to share or show clips in your video. For example, music video, commercial, TV Show, etc.
3.Documentary- Create a video that demonstrates awareness and advocates for a change in thinking or behavior. Your film should attempt to persuade a specific audience and have a specific purpose.
4.ANIMATION (Stop motion) – Stop Motion is an animation technique through which physical objects, drawings, or people are altered and photographed one picture at a time to give an illusion of movement when displayed in sequence. Create a short stop-motion film about any subject you like.

Pre-Production or Preliminary work 1: Brainstorm Ideas/Research (i.e. pick topic, message, storyline, gather information for your film, etc...) 2: Assign roles and responsibilities (i.e. script writer/storyboard and poster designer) Role 1: a) Write a Script (2 pages) or storyboard (min. 8 frames -detailed scene description, shots and dialogue). Role 2: a) Brainstorm Ideas for your Poster Ad ( i.e. title, slogan/message, important information for the film, etc.) b) Create a detailed sketch (2) of your POSTER AD. Production Filming and Plan:
Post – Production
EDIT your videos as a group and include the following:
- titles, credits (end - if applicable), transitions, music & SFX, narration/interviews - Export video as .mp4 file 2. Editing Poster Ad or Cover: -Create Poster using photoshop (8x10" and 300 resolution) - SAVE As JPEG and PSD.file. * Note: ALL images must be "original" -no images from the internet. |
Due Date & Timeline: 1. Pre-Production: Thurs. Nov. 16 @ end of the period. 2. Production Plan: Thurs. Nov. 16 @ end of the period. Note: Filming will be done on your own scheduling days. If you plan on filming in-class you need to let me know the day before. 3. Post-Production: Mon. Nov. 27 @ end of the period. Submit video file (.mp4) and digital file (.psd and .jpg). 4. Present and Critique Films to the class on Thurs. Dec. 7 |
